It’s unfortunate to report that Tiger JK’s father recently passed away.
Tiger JK updated his fans through a tweet. “My Father left. He said life is loving and thank you all.”
His father Seo Byung Hoo, a pop columnist, passed away around 4pm on February 1 at the age of 72 in the city of Uijeongbu just north of Seoul. It’s been reported that cancer was the cause of his death.
He graduated from Seoul University, one of Korea’s most competitive schools, with a degree in economics and later became a panelist for MBC’s College Music Festival from 1981 to 1983. He went on to become the managing editor covering music at one of Korea’s well-circulated newspapers from 1988. He is one of Korea’s first pop columnist and also one of the founding members of Korean Popular Music Critics Association.
Tiger JK tweeted another message afterwards thanking many of the seniors. “To those who I met when I was younger, thank you Jo Yong Pil ahjusshi, Kim Kwang Hwan ahjusshi, Kim Soo Chul ahjusshi, Jeon Young Rok ahjusshi, Jo Young Nam ahjusshi, Shin Joong Hyun ahjusshi.”
