On February 18, YG Entertainment gave an update on 2NE1‘s comeback, announcing a two day postponement to their second album release.
YG Life posted an announcement that stated 2NE1′s album, which was scheduled to be released on February 24, will be released on February 26 at 12AM (technically February 27). The offline release date is still the same at March 7.
YG explained that since CL has written and composed three songs in the album for the first time, it would be more meaningful if the album was released on February 26, which is her birthday.
The announcement also stated that there will be two title tracks. The first title track is “Come Back Home.” It has the same title as one of the most famous Seotaiji and Boys’ songs, “Come Back Home” in 1995. However, 2NE1′s “Come Back Home” is a completely different song about longing for a lover who has left. “Come Back Home” is produced by YG’s star producer Teddy and is a crossover genre of R&B, reggae and hip-hop.
The album will also contain an unplugged version of “Come Back Home” but since it is so different from the original track, two different versions of the music video will be made and both released on February 28.
The second title track is called “Gotta Be You,” which is co-produced by Teddy and PK. It is a fast-tempo song with a strong melody that can be enjoyed by general public.
YG also announced that there will be four different music videos in total for 2NE1′s second album. After the two versions of “Come Back Home” on February 28, “Gotta Be You” and “Happy,” which was filmed in the US, will be released as well.
Finally, the announcement stated that the track list for 2NE1′s second album will be released tomorrow night at 10PM (KST).
In other news, Girls’ Generation has also announced a delay to their comeback, causing many to wonder about 2NE1 going head-to-head with them.
