“Miss Granny” stars Shim Eun Kyung and B1A4’s Jinyoung were at Times Square in Seoul for a free hug event on February 13.
Shim Eun Kyung had previously promised fans that if “Miss Granny” broke the five million audience barrier, she would dress up like an elderly person along with Jinyoung and give out free hugs. They kept their promise, and more than 2000 people attended the event, which lasted slightly under an hour. The first two hundred people were given a chance for a free hug.
Shim Eun Kyung arrived wearing a loose quilted orange vest paired with floral printed baggy pants and a pink scarf, while Jinyoung sported darker colors and an accessory cane.
The event was due to start at 1 PM but the first 200 numbers had already been given out in the early morning. By 10 AM, around a thousand fans were in line, and by the time the event started, over 2000 people were gathered in front of the stage.
Both confessed that they didn’t know that so many people would come. Shim Eun Kyung said, “This is the first time I’m doing this, so I’m nervous but really happy. ‘Miss Granny’ is currently showing in theaters, so show the movie your support.” Jinyoung said, “Please continue to support ‘Miss Granny’ in future.”
The audience was presented with carefully prepared chocolates and hot coffee, ahead of Valentine’s Day as a sign of appreciation for their support.
“Miss Granny” opened in theaters on February 22, and has broken the 6 million audience mark as of February 12.
