EXO Kai’s audition video was revealed for the first time on an SBS special.
The special, titled “Determination: 10,000 Hours,” was broadcast on February 16, and analyzed the differences between the failures and successes of some great dancers in the K-Pop industry, one of which is Kai from EXO. He is recognized as one of the best dancers in the group, and whenever he doesn’t have a performance or a show to do, he finds his way to the practice studio.
He said, “All I ever did was practice. I even practiced on Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving). For the three days we had off, I just ate and practiced. I was the first to arrive at the studio in the morning, and the last to leave. When I was a trainee, I never saw anyone leave later than me.”
Kai also talked about how he started dancing. He said he started when he was about eight, and did jazz and ballet for about four years. He continued, “I wanted to try other types of dance, too. When I would watch TV, I’d see various artists doing really fun dances, and would ask my dad where I could learn that type of dance, and that I wanted to try it.”
Kai said that during his first showcase he thought his heart was going to beat out of his chest. Upon saying this, he revealed that he gets really embarrassed at these types of interviews, because he’s letting out things that he has kept to himself, like how nervous he was on stage. He added, “[The showcase] was when I knew. ‘This is how fun it is to perform!’”
