Actors Choi Won Young and Shim Lee Young vowed to be together forever on February 28 at the Coex Walkerhill Grand Ballroom in central Seoul.

At the press conference before their wedding, Choi Won Young expressed, “I was the one who asked her out first. I think I told her that maybe we can start to date just like any other normal couple.”

Upon hearing this, Shim Lee Young laughed and said, “He sounded so strong when he said those words.”

Choi Won Young also added, “When I first proposed to her, I had already prepared the ring in my car and asked her if she was ready to ride this car with me forever.”

The two met and acted as husband and wife on the MBC drama “A Hundred Years Legacy” last year. The two have already admitted that Shim Lee Young is pregnant, and has been so for the last 20 weeks.

It has been reported that the couple will postpone their honeymoon and instead, Choi Won Young will focus on his work for the drama “3 Days” and his newlywed wife will focus on her prenatal care.

Seungri of Big Bang will appear in a Korean drama for the first time.

Seungri confirmed his role in a new SBS weekend drama, “Angel Eyes (working title),” which will begin airing in April.

According to an affiliate of the drama, “Seungri attended the first scrip reading for the drama on February 27 with other actors including Lee Sang Yoon, Goo Hye Sun, and Kang Ha Neul. The script reading completed in a harmonious mood.”

Seungri will be playing the role of a 119 (911) rescue worker who return to Korea after growing up overseas. He was raised by his grandmother, so he speaks Korean with a Choongcchung-do Province dialect and English with a Texan accent. He shows an obsession towards elders who live alone and suffer from dementia and causes problems because tries to exceed the bounds of his duties.

This will be Seungri’s first appearance in a Korean drama. After debuting in 2006 as a member of Big Bang, the singer has also been focusing on his solo career. Last year, he starred in the Japanese NTV drama special, “Kindaichi Case Files” working alongside Asia’s top idol stars.

“Angel Eyes” portrays the story of a man and a woman who are forced to let go of the first love but meet again after 12 years. The drama will replace the time slot of “Thrice Married Woman” once it concludes in April.

On February 28, CNBlue appeared as guest stars on KBS Cool FM’s “Jo Jung Chi and Ha Rim’s 2 O’clock” and shared their thoughts and plans about making a comeback to the Korean stage after a year.

On the show, DJ Jo Jung Chi asked, “Do you have an actor you want to work with?” to which Lee Jong Hyun answered, “It would be great to work with my group members, but it would be awkward to see them so often.”

He added, “I would like to work with Kim Woo Bin again. He’s my favorite hyung after our members.” Lee Jong Hyun and Kim Woo Bin starred in SBS’ “A Gentleman’s Dignity” as Colin and Kim Dong Hyup.

Many eyes are on SM Entertainment with its latest business move.

On February 28, the major label is in the spotlight for investing stocks into new indie label Baljunso. The former director of Can Entertainment, Kang Byung Yong, founded Baljunso in 1991. Some of the artists in the indie label include Kim Jong Seo, Jang Hye Jin, Park Sang Min, and Can.

CEO Kang Byung Yong stated on February 26, “Rather than the mainstream K-Pop scene that’s currently lead by idol groups, our main goals at Baljunso is to revive the non-mainstream scene including hip hop and band music.”

He continued, “SM Entertainment, who is leading the Korean Wave, invested shares [into Baljunso] to help globalize the diversity of K-Pop and plans to establish distribution, marketing, and additional business ideas within Korea and abroad with a cooperative relationship with Baljunso.”

“I’m aware that there are talks about how the indie scene is not doing well,” he went on. “We’re going to create a system where indie musicians will not have trouble with music production and promotional activities.”

Meanwhile, Baljunso plans to show the diversity of K-Pop through its “Baljunso Worldwide Promotion” event on March 4 in Hongdae, Seoul. The event will be streamed live through SM’s official channels Genie, Ustream, and YouTube.

While the members are heavily marked down to 1,000 won (about 1 USD), the comedian on the far left is seen looking pretty happy at his original price of 78,000 won (about 78 USD). He has extra vegetable padding and octopus legs are coming out of his dress.

Park Shi Hoo is reported to be positively looking over a new drama called “Golden Cross.”

On February 27, Park Shi Hoo’s agency spoke with Ilgan Sports and said, “We are planning on meeting with the staff of the upcoming KBS Wednesday/Thursday drama ‘Golden Cross.’ Park Shi Hoo is positively looking over the script but nothing has been confirmed yet.”

“Golden Cross” is a story of a man who tries to avenge a family who was falsely accused. “Golden Cross” will be written by “Bridal Mask“s Yoo Hyun Mi and directed by “Cheer Up Mr. Kim“s Hong Seok Goo PD.

If he joins the drama, Park Shi Hoo’s role would be Kang Do Yoon, a detective whose motto is, “If you think it’s unfair, then succeed.”

After his drama “Alice in Cheongdamdong” ended in 2013, Park Shi Hoo has been taking a break due to his scandal in February of last year. However, he has been preparing for his comeback as news agencies reported his casting in a Chinese film.

“Golden Cross” will air after “Age of Feeling” in April.

While CNBLUE was waiting to go on “M!Countdown” on February 27, they had a brief interview with OSEN and spoke about a lot of things regarding their comeback including their thoughts on competing with 2NE1 and Girls’ Generation.

First, CNBLUE talked about what they would do if they won the #1 trophy for “Can’t Stop.” The band promised to release “Can’t Stop” in a different dialect or saturi version. They commented, “It’s already finished. We can release it anytime.”

CNBLUE commented, “While we were recording our album, we thought of recording a saturi version of the song. Even if we don’t win #1, we want to release it.”

CNBLUE also wants to do as many Korean promotions as they can. They said, “Since it is our first comeback in over a year, we are excited to promote in Korea. In April, we will throw a concert in Seoul and Busan. Our comeback show will be on March 2 so I hope a lot of people will come and have fun.”

“Can’t Stop” is also receiving love from overseas. CNBLUE remarked, “We thought it was so cool when we saw the Billboard article. This is just the beginning so we hope to receive even more love later.”

The band also touched on the subject of competing with some of the hottest girl groups right now such as 2NE1 and Girls’ Generation. CNBLUE commented, “We love both groups’ music. It’s fun to be promoting with them. First, we are a different genre from them since we are a band. So we really like listening to 2NE1 and Girls’ Generation’s music.”

CNBLUE also commented on promoting at the same time with another band, Nell. “It’s really an honor. We’ve been fans of Nell for such a long time that we were really excited for their new album. Their song is so good that we thought ‘Of course, it’s Nell.’ Recently, we also saw on the news that Nell complimented us and it was really a big honor. We hope to become good seniors just like them.”

Celebrities Lee Su Geun, Tony Ahn and Tak Jae Hoon and comedian Song In Hwa have been officially been banned from appearing on KBS programs.

KBS convened a special committee meeting on February 27, which resulted in the decision to suspend the aforementioned celebrities from appearing on broadcasts.

Tony Ahn, Lee Su Geun and Tak Jae Hoon were indicted for illegal gambling last year, resulting in 6-10 month prison sentences with 2 years of probation each. Comedian Song In Hwa received a similar sentence for marijuana use.

The committee ruled earlier in mid-February, that with Tony Ahn being suspended from appearing on programs, all H.O.T videos songs would be banned from broadcast as well.

In December 2013, KBS suspended actresses Lee Seung Yeon, Park Shi Yeon and Jang Mi In Ae from broadcast appearances, following their prison and probation sentencing for illegal propofol use.

Others banned in December included Go Young Wook, who received a two year and six months prison sentence and three years with an electronic tracker for sexual harassment and sexual assault of a minor, and singer E-Sens, who received one year and two months with two years of probation for marijuana use.

There has been renewed interest in BIGBANG member G-Dragon’s past, specifically, an old video from G-Dragon’s school days.

Interest in the video was sparked anew through a February 25 post on an online community forum titled, “G-Dragon’s Prohibited Video.” The video footage shows G-Dragon’s appearing in his school musical, “Urine Town,” which was his National Middle School of Traditional Arts graduation project.

In the video, G-Dragon sports a neat side-part, slicked down, and heavy, exaggerated stage makeup, to humorous and slightly ridiculous effect. He looked nothing like the fashionista he is today.

Referring to the video in an anecdote, G-Dragon once commented on a radio show after his debut that, “I won’t let the people who spread the video get away with it.” However, the video has continued to receive attention throughout his career.

In Taeyeon’s clip, she is first shown slumped on a chair, in a deep, peaceful sleep. She is bundled up from head to toe with a big padded jacket and seems to be catching up on some rest. We see the person filming (assumed to be Sunny) creeping up on Taeyeon. Watch what happens:

Sooyoung is playful and quirky in her clip as she peers into the camera and jokingly repeats, “I’m so pretty.” She continues to make people laugh with her silly antics in a way that only Sooyoung can pull off. Sooyoung’s big and bright smile is contagious as she dazzles fans with her natural beauty.

Other top artists such as Zhou Bichang, Chen Chusheng and Black Panther are among the singer lineup as well.

SM Entertainment spoke with TV Report and announced that EXO-M, Zhoumi and Zhang Liyin will each be appearing on different episodes.

It is known that EXO-M has remade one of Wakin Chau‘s 2003 hit, “Yi Qi Chi Ku De Xing Fu” and will be performing it during the show.

“Cunning Single Lady” is just a day away from airing its pilot episode after “Miss Korea” comes to an end today.

The stills show Joo Sang Wook and Lee Min Jung almost about to kiss, showing a heart-thumping scene that fans are already excited to watch. Joo Sang Wook is leaning in for a kiss as Lee Min Jung waits with her eyes closed.

This scene was reported to be filmed on February 16. This was the two actors’ first kiss scene, making them both slightly nervous. However, their close relationship off-screen helped the set atmosphere stay warm and bright as they exchanged many ideas before going into shooting the scene.

It was said that they practiced their lines while hugging each other in order to seem less awkward for the actual filming. Joo Sang Wook was said to look after Lee Min Jung and helped her get her good angles on camera.

JYP Entertainment has taken the first step towards revealing their latest girl group.

A representative of JYP revealed to Sports Seoul on February 27, “We are preparing a six-member girl group. They will show the healthy charm of bright and strong teen girls. We ask you to anticipate a lot.”

According to the source, one of the members is Rina, who caught the attention of many with her smooth rap verses in Sunmi‘s “Full Moon.” Born in 1993, she is originally from the U.S., and has been a trainee for over two years. Thanks to her outstanding rap and dance skills, not to mention her beautiful looks, she is one of the leading members of the group.

Even though Rina is a Korean-American, the other members are not from multicultural backgrounds. They are in their teens, and will be entering the market of girl groups with their fresh charms, which stand out from the current trend of sexy concepts.

The name of the group is still kept in secret, but they can be expected to debut this spring. The album can be expected to include diverse tracks, not to forget one or two produced by the one and only Park Jin Young. As there have been no new traditional girl groups from JYP since Wonder Girls and miss A, many are expecting to see whether this one has what it takes to become JYP’s latest representative girl group.

MBC Wednesday-Thursday drama “Miss Korea” released pictures of the cast at the last filming session ahead of its final episode on February 26.

The drama’s production company, SM C&C, put out these pictures on February 26 that showed the cast of “Miss Korea,” including Lee Sun Kyun, Lee Yeon Hee, Lee Mi Sook, Lee Sung Min and Song Sun Mi, behind the scenes, all wearing bright smiles on their faces.

According to a representative, the “Miss Korea” cast did their best to keep the atmosphere pleasant from the start to the very end, wrapping up the drama without a hitch at last week’s final filming session.

Lee Sun Kyun and Lee Yeon Hee, the leads with the most screen time and busiest schedules, showed not a trace of weariness during filming and restored morale on set with their cries of “Bbashya!” and general playfulness.

With chemistry no less than that between Hyung Joon (Lee Sun Kyun) and Ji Young (Lee Yeon Hee), we had the Teacher Jung and Go Hwa Jung couple, played by Lee Sung Min and Sung Sun Mi respectively. They shared a sweet relationship in the drama, and apparently their cozy relationship caused them to be at the receiving end of jealous looks by staff members.

Showing that they could match up to the younger cast, Lee Mi Sook (Madam Ma) and Hong Ji Min (Madam Ma) filled the role of mood makers at the drama’s final filming session. The four men of the Oh family made the most of their short appearance, earning themselves a round of applause for their comical scene at the end of the drama.

“Miss Korea” concluded its 20-episode run on February 26 and will be followed by “Cunning Single Lady,” starring Lee Min Jung and Joo Sang Wook, on February 27 at 10:00 PM KST on MBC.

After rising to popularity in China, actor Kim Soo Hyun will be appearing on a popular Chinese variety program.

Kim Soo Hyun will be the first Korean star to appear on Jiangsu Satellite TV’s “Super Brain.” It is a show that brings science and variety together where the guests play brain games. The specific date of his appearance on the show has not been confirmed; Kim Soo Hyun will be touring around Asia after SBS’ drama “Man from the Stars” ends, as well as filming a number of CFs.

“Infinity Challenge” has been keeping its #1 spot for the past 11 months but has fallen down to the wildly popular Jun Ji Hyun/Kim Soo Hyun series.

Peppertones’ agency, Antenna Music, revealed their official stance, “We have shared our stance about the similarity of ‘Once More’ from the ‘Miss Granny’ OST to Peppertones’ ‘Ready, Get, Set Go’ with the song’s composers. We (Antenna Music) discussed the similar of the two songs’ genres, and have decided that the level of plagiarism is excessively high. We have decided that we will leave it to the courts to establish the rights and wrongs of the matter.”

Antenna Music emphasized that they would be taking firm action to prevent such incidents from recurring in the music industry.

One of 2NE1′s double title tracks, “Come Back Home” received great reviews on its unique genre and melody. Critic Kang Myung Seok of the web zine “Ize” commented, “Instead of having just one genre, it is a mix of reggae, dupstep and hip-hop. ‘Come Back Home’s hip-hop aspect had the greatest impact on the song.”

Group 8, the production company behind “Boys Over Flowers,” announced last month that it was planning to remake Japanese drama “Nodame Cantabile,” targeting a release in the second half of the year. There were reports earlier this month that singer and actress IU was offered Ueno Juri’s role but her agency has denied these reports.

“Nodame Cantabile” was originally a classical music-themed manga, serialized in Japanese manga magazine “Kiss” from 2001 to 2009. It was adapted into a drama in 2006 by Fuji TV adapted “Nodame Cantabile” and was phenomenally popular throughout Asia.

If Joo Won signs onto the Korean “Nodame,” he is likely to take on the role of Chiaki Shinichi, played by Tamaki Hiroshi in the original Japanese drama. Chiaki is a musical genius of an abrasive character with a charming side, which makes it difficult to dislike him. Known as “Chiaki senpai” to Korean fans, Chiaki has also been compared to Kang Mae from 2008 MBC drama “Beethoven Virus.”

Joo Won has been in project after project, steadily building up his popularity and resume along with the way. He was in two dramas “7th Grade Civil Servant” on MBC and “Good Doctor” on KBS, KBS variety show “1 Night 2 Days” and the movie “Catch Me,” all in 2013. SBS’s new Wednesday-Thursday cop drama “You’re All Surrounded” has confirmed its two male leads, Cha Seung Won and Lee Seung Gi. Actress Go Ara was previously offered the female lead role, and she is purportedly in the middle of arranging her schedule.

Multiple broadcasting representatives have stated that “Cha Seung Won, Lee Seung Gi and Go Ara received casting offers and all three recently decided to do the drama.” Representatives have called it a “dream casting.”

However, the drama’s production company, HB Entertainment, stated that only Lee Seung Gi and Cha Seung Won have confirmed their appearances in the drama. “We are in the final stages of casting for ‘You’re All Surrounded.’ Lee Seung Gi, Cha Seung Won have confirmed their appearance, while Go Ara is arranging her schedule.”

“You’re All Surrounded” is a cop drama revolving four rookie cops in their 20s who did not have any dreams of becoming detectives, and how they develop into true cops.

Cha Seung Won plays strong team leader Seo Pan Suk, who enables the rookie cops to develop and grow. This is Cha Seung Won’s first drama appearance in three years, since MBC’s “Best Love” in 2011.

In the role of bright and good-looking rookie cop Eun Dae Gu (with an IQ of 150), Lee Seung Gi plays a character who is also described as foul-mouthed and blunt, with a painful family history. He will be returning to dramaland a year after acting in MBC’s “Gu Family Book.”

Go Ara won critical praise for her role as Sung Na Jung in tvN’s “Reply 1994,” and if she confirms her appearance, she will play female detective Eo Soo Sun, who passes the police officer exam on her fifth try.

“You’re All Surrounded” will be written by Lee Jung Sun (“Ojakgyo Brothers”) and directed by Yoo In Sik (“Incarnation of Money,” “Giant”). The drama will follow after “Three Days” on SBS and is likely to premiere at the beginning of May. The production will begin filming once casting has been completed.

“If I came out with high heels and a typical concept, I don’t think my own color would have been formed. I’ve always had bad ankles so I can’t wear heels for a long time anyway so being barefoot was actually more comfortable when dancing,” she said.

Sunmi continued, “The concept for ‘Full Moon’ actually had me wearing heels in the beginning. But when I stepped on stage with the heels, it wasn’t the image and my company and I were thinking of. I wanted to give off a girlish but womanly vibe but wearing heels seemed too strong.”

Sunmi’s “sofa dance” for her “Full Moon” choreography also worked out better barefoot. “When I stepped on the sofa with heels on, the sofa kept ripping. I couldn’t catch my balance either. It was dangerous on many levels to do the choreography with heels so I decided to go barefoot again,” she explained.

About her new “Full Moon” concept, Sunmi stated, “I tried to appeal with a more refined and mysterious concept than ’24 Hours.’ I wanted to show the youthful but sexy side of someone who is in between a girl and a woman.”

When asked if she will continue her barefoot concept for her future singles, Sunmi laughed and said, “The barefoot concept is like a watercolor paint that gave me a color as a solo artist. But I probably won’t be barefoot for all my future activities. I need to keep showing new changes.”

VIXX‘s most recent charity photo shoot has been revealed.

The handsome VIXX members sported black and white suits and gave off an air of maturity and class for the March edition of “The Celebrity” magazine. The main cut for this photo shoot shows some of the VIXX members holding babies, for a warm atmosphere.

This photo shoot was to spread awareness for the Green Umbrella Child Fund‘s “Love, One More” campaign. VIXX has actively participated in this campaign, not only by posing for this photo shoot but by designing hats, selling them and donating the proceeds.

It is also said that VIXX was very good with the children, almost looking like pre-school teachings, all throughout the shoot. Despite their busy schedules, VIXX took much time to carefully discuss their designs for the hats for the campaign.

VIXX commented, “We still lack in skills but we’re happy to be part of this warm project and it was a great experience.”

Ex-Kara member Nicole Jung recently gave an update on her current whereabouts.

On February 24, Nicole posted a photo on her Instagram with the caption, “Hudson River.” She also posted a video not too long after with the caption “5678.”

The video showed Nicole happily walking along New York’s Hudson River, looking cute and fashionable in an ivory fur jacket and sunglasses.

Nicole was captured brightly smiling, laughing and playfully joking around with the person taking the video.

Many fans and netizens left comments for the ex-Kara member saying things like, “Nicole, you look so bright in America,” “I’m happy because it seems like you’re happy,” “I wish I could travel to the US too,” and “Nicole, when are you coming to Korea? I miss you.”

After her contract expired with DSP Media, Nicole decided to leave Kara and return to the States to further pursue her studies.

After receiving wide media and public attention for Lee Da Hae and Lee Dong Wook’s on-screen reunion, the first script reading for “Hotel King” took place, marking the kick-off for this upcoming MBC drama.

The script reading took place last week, where all of the cast members and staff gathered for the first time. Director Kim Dae Jin, writer Jo Eun Jung, the leads Lee Da Hae and Lee Dong Wook, as well as other supporting cast members like Lee Duk Hwa and Kim Hae Sook attended.

Lee Dong Wook commented, “Instead of saying that I’ll work hard, I’ll try to do my best.” Lee Da Hae remarked, “I don’t usually get nervous but coming here is making me nervous. But because of the strong senior actors, I think I’ll be able to film with a secure heart.”

Meeting again after eight years since “My Girl,” Lee Da Hae and Lee Dong Wook was said to show superb chemsitry once more. Lee Dong Wook perfectly portrayed the cold general manager Cha Jae Wan while Lee Da Hae filled with room with laughter through her bright and energetic acting.

The two leads were said to have continuously talked with each other and the staff members about the drama, showing their passion for the project.

2AM‘s Seulong also got in sync with his outgoing Seon Woo Hyun character while Wang Ji Hye perfectly executed her announcer character Song Chae Kyung. Other cast members include VIXX‘s N and Jewelry‘s Yewon.

It is said that there were two script reading sessions for “Hotel King,” which isn’t very common. Also, many of the actors and staff are receiving hotelier service training in order better portray their characters in the drama.

“Hotel King” is set to air on March 30.

American cable music channel Fuse TV recently gave high praise for Epik High, calling them the driving force of the growth of Korea’s hip-hop.

Fuse TV interviewed Epik High and wrote, “There is no hip hop act quite like Epik High. Made up of MCs Tablo and Mithra Jin alongside DJ Tukutz, the trio have been shaking up the K-pop industry for more than a decade. With a unique rap-rock sound, Epike High came about organically instead of being placed together by a record label, like most K-pop acts.”

In just a mere hour upon release, “Mr.Mr” was the #1 song on seven different music charts including Melon, Mnet, Olleh Music, Bugs, Genie, Soribada and Monkey3. In a couple more hours, “Mr.Mr” rose to the top on Naver and Daum Music as well.

Overseas reactions and interests are also getting higher and higher. “Mr. Mr” was ranked #2 in Thailand, #5 in Malaysia, #14 in Hong Kong, #21 in Taiwan, #52 in the Philippines and #63 in Indonesia, making “Mr.Mr.” enter the Top 100 chart in six different countries within an hour after release.

It was previously reported that SBS’ popular variety program, “Running Man,” would be filming outside of the Asian continent for the first time in Australia.

Hallyu stars, Rain and Kim Woo Bin confirmed their appearance on the show, and on February 22, the two stars with the “Running Man” cast departed for Australia from Incheon International Airport.

The Australia special of the show is scheduled to last 4 nights and 5 days. While filming the show, Rain, Kim Woo Bin, and the “Running Man” cast were spotted by fans. Photos of them filming for the show was posted on various SNS sites.

In the photos, Lee Kwang Soo and Kim Woo Bin are seen wearing the “Running Man” nametags on their backs. Rain, Kim Jong Kook, and Lee Kwang Soo are dressed as kangaroos.
