Big Bang’s leader G-Dragon confirmed his popularity in China.
According to YG Entertainment, G-Dragon received the “Most Welcomed Overseas Artist” award at the first “Youku Tudou Young Choice Music Awards” held at the Beijing Olympic Stadium on November 20.
G-Dragon, who was the only Korean singer present at the event, performed two tracks from his “Coup D’état” album, “Coup D’etat” and “Niliria.”
G-Dragon’s second solo album, which was released in September, not only topped charts in Korea, but it also ranked number one on the iTunes charts for multiple countries including Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, and Singapore.
YG Entertainment also stated, “An audience of 10,000 people as well as affiliates of the Chinese entertainment industry were present at the event,” and “Over 500 fans greeted G-Dragon at the airport when he arrived in China to attend the event.”
G-Dragon expressed his appreciation in his thank-you message saying, “Thank you Youku Tudou and SCTV for this honor. Thank you to all my fans in China for supporting me. I love you.”
Meanwhile, G-Dragon and other members of Big Bang will attend the “2013 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA)” on November 22 in Hong Kong. The group will continue its six-dome tour in Japan, which will end on January 13, 2014.
