MBC’s “Infinity Challenge” kept its first place ranking among Saturday variety programs.
According to ratings agency Nielsen Korea, the January 12 episode of “Infinity Challenge” recorded a rating of 15.7%, a 1.2% increase from its previous episode (14.5%).
“Infinity Challenge” aired “What If… Special” Part 2, giving “Infinity Challenge” members Noh Hong Chul and Gil a chance to take part in a “We Got Married”-like romance. Noh Hong Chul and Gil showed a 180 degree transformation from their usual variety images.
Noh Hong Chul and model Jang Yoon Ju’s “married life” was revealed, and the couple entertained the other “Infinity Challenge” members at their marital home. Compared to Jang Yoon Yu’s bold appearance, Noh Hong Chul appeared to be a rather shy and cautious husband, in contrast to his usual cheeky and cheap image. In public, they looked comfortable with skinship, but when alone, Noh Hong Chul surprised viewers when he was unable to look his wife directly in the eyes.
Gil prepared a necklace event for comedian and actress Kim Sook, hiding his present in a cake. She was surprised to find it later on, and Gil showed his romantic side by putting the necklace on her, causing her friends to express their envy. This episode could be said to be a turning point for Gil. He charmed viewers by appearing to be considerate and attentive, and this seems to have had positive effects on netizens in terms of his image.
KBS 2TV’s “Immortal Song 2” scored 9.6% ratings, MBC’s “We Got Married” 7.0%, “Quiz to Change the World” 7.2%, SBS’s “Bungeoppang” 12.2% and “Star King” recorded 11.8%.
The “What If… Special” continues next week with Part 3 of the special.
